REAL RENT DUWAMISH

Education is so important and I am very grateful to the Duwamish Nation for their work educating the public about the realities of this land we all live on. I have been paying the Duwamish rent since 2019 and must admit when I first saw signs, Real Rent Duwamish, I thought it was a Duwamish owned real-estate agency that rented apartments and/or sold houses. Imagine my surprise when first learning that was not the case. Since that time I have been training my brain and body to recognize when I am on stolen land. On a recent trip to Pendleton, OR with a friend, I made a point to find out whose land we were on and then explore the indigenous museum the Cayuse, Walla Walla and Umatilla Nations had created. ttps://www.realrentduwamish.org/

I recently have been speaking with members of the Quinault Nation as I own property near Ocean Shores which is on stolen Quinault land. Turns out they do not have a rental program set up but do have a scholarship program I can donate to. I am waiting on a response from an educator to find out how to make a monthly donation which would be a way for me to pay them rent. http://www.quinaultindiannation.com/

Things to think about.
